@regrann from @balleralert - Two Brothers Go In Public Bathroom… But When Only One Returns, Father Reacts Immediately (from conservativetribune.com) A Florida mother and father learned the most horrible way possible this week why little kids should always be escorted when they use a public bathroom. The mother, father and their two boys were dining at a McDonald’s in Jacksonville when their two sons — one six years of age, the other seven — went to the bathroom together as per the “buddy system.” ⠀ Unfortunately, the system did not work. Moments later, the older boy returned to the table by himself. This troubled the boy’s parents, so his father then walked to the bathroom himself to check on his younger boy. When the father entered the restroom, he saw a black man emerge from a stall and walk out. Inside that same stall the father found his younger boy pulling up his pants. Without a moment to the lose, the father then hightailed out of McDonald’s and chased the pedophile, a 33-year-old homeless man later identified as Keith Andre Sykes, until unfortunately the suspect got away. Police later found Sykes hiding in a dumpster and booked him on a charge of capital sexual battery. He hopefully has a very lengthy prison sentence awaiting him. What exactly happened to the father’s boy was not immediately known, though according to Chief Tom Hackney, “It’s clear that some kind of sex crime happened.” ⠀ For something so sickening to happen to a six-year-old boy is horrifying, though it does go to show that you should always monitor the activities of your young children. ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ If you know me, this has long been a fear of mine because I've heard of stories just like this! Even when my son was 12 I stayed outside the door. This is horrific! What system do you use to protect your kids?

I believe that it is important that children are thought about sex crimes and molestation at a very young age because knowledge is power. Unfortunately in our culture talking to your children about anything sexual is taboo. This leaves our children vulnerable and targets for pedophiles. I started talking to my son and daughter at the age of 4 about good touch/bad touch, what to do if an adult touches them or even makes them feel uncomfortable. I also let them know that sometimes adults with ill intentions will be extra friendly, supportive or may even buy them things. I think we have to be brave and prepare them for the possibility because knowledge is power.

As both a survivor of child molestation and a parent, this taps into a fear and pain that I cannot even begin to express. I know what it feels like as a child to go through that and I don't ever want to think about my son..... I just can't...
