awakewhileusleep I'm on the fence to be honest. I used to say no to all that but not anymore. For instance, I lift weights with protein shakes to help me get bigger. Somebody could easily tell me to not buy protein and to not lift weights and just "love myself" as is. Its the same concept for women. Society doesn't down men for buying millions of dollars of health supplements and expensive gym memberships yet tries to limit women on how there bodies can look. So I'm on the fence to be honest. If a person has three teeth. Would you tell them to "love themselves" or recommend a dentist? Its actually an arguable topic.

santerio you are correct, but I think the discussion was based around implants and injections...

I'm sorry I forgot to put that I was speaking in general. If a woman wants to have plastic surgery to alter her appearance I don't think it is entirely different then someone wanted something done on their body to look better. What I'm saying is we can't give "degrees" to self improvement. Plastic surgery for bigger boobs and to look hotter is bad (scale 10) while changing hair color to blonde to look hotter is ok (scale 2). Things that are social taboos are different for each person so I'm on the fence.

I guess when you made the reference to working out with protein shakes you were using that as an example of someone who is self conscious and wants to get big to feel better... I took it as they just wanted to exercise to get in shape and increase their health...

callmemansa83 Yep.I was trying to say that most people tell women who want plastic surgery to love themselves yet wearing weave instead of natural could be an example of not loving how you were born. Its degrees to everything which is why I'm on the fence.

I wanted bigger boobs at one point in my life. And to be honest I was never insecure about my A cups (lol). It was more so of a "womanhood" thing. I associated womanhood with boobs and hips and just looking like an adult, figure wise. Cause I'm petite, and at 34 I STILL look 18. So I seriously considered it. Something minor like a Kelly Rowland boob job! But from a holistic stand point, I can't see me putting something foreign in my body anymore. I've changed my way of living and thinking, so I'm over it. I have no issue with surgical procedures to enhance your look. Fake boobs, fake butt, tattooed eyebrows! Whatever. What's for you is for you, what's for me is for me.

I just have a problem with it when a woman puts her health and sometimes her life on the line... It's never worth it from that perspective...

santerio guess you made a valid point with your examples because im full of tattoos, and probably will continue getting ink from here on out. IMO i still think the female body is one of perfection from jump.. if most women could see yourselves from a man's eyes they would know all of that isnt even necessary. the only cosmetic surgery i feel is necessary is reconstructive after some sort of injury.. but if you do have a procedure i have to agree with callmemansa83 dont go overboard or get risky work done from someone who isnt a professional.. black women are fucking beautiful, you can not improve the wheel but you can sure mess one up.

I always joke that I have no behind. And although I may wish at times that there was some plump to it I am not willing to do any type of unnecessary surgery to please who? Becuase in all honesty it is not self that we are trying to fullfull this change for. Its to catch the eye of others. I am with my significant other and I am comfortable in my body and he shows appreciation to my body as well. Now if we are out and see a female with a big butt we look, appreciate and move on. To each its own though. Have to ask that deep question of why and who are we truly doing it for. Is it worth it down the line?

If you don't need it. ...figure out why you think you do. ..i don't need cosmetic surgery but I wouldn't mind braces to correct a tooth out of line on my bottom row. ..

TV got us here, well that's what I think. It's sad to see women going under the knife for enhancements. I grew up bottom heavy and I remember the name calling and it's so funny to see how it has changed over the years. Now ass, big unnatural looking ass is in. It was something that I hid for years and it caused a lot of friendships to end as well. The jealousy was and still is ridiculous. It's hard to find a friend that isn't envious of the curves. And eventhough surgery wasn't popular back in the day, I remember women talking about how they wished it was possible to "put something back there". They wanted more ass and I wanted to fade into the background lol

I guess the thing for me is if you do change your body and you become this absolute badass model, how do you know the person you are with loves you and not just your body?
