like Erykah Badu said once upon a time, "most intellects do not believe in God..." and i remember coming up wondering how that could be, but now as i have come to know more and more enlightened and conscious minds they seem to agree. from what i can remember i know we use to believe in Jesus, and then we said Jesus was black.. and now lastly i've heard that Jesus never existed. not trying to stir anyone's faith but i'd like to know your stance on God if you care to share

I have had so many thoughts surrounding these same developments. I went from a non-believer to a Jehovahs Witness to a spiritualist. I know the bible inside out and I found comfort in becoming Christian at a certain time in my life. After there were too many questions that couldn't be answered I had lost my sense of peace and had to evolve. In my mind religion is comparable to a spiritual college and being a spiritualist is more like spiritual entrepreneurship. Religion has their own version of metaphysics they teach by instilling faith, morals, and prayer even though they would never acknowledge the spiritual science behind the teachings. I'm not one of those people who believe religion is all bad because if it improves your person and you find peace and you chose that belief system without being converted by force, who am I to judge? I have a grandpa with PTSD from Vietnam and after killing people he's able to find peace knowing that in the bible God forgives and it may have been harder to forgive himself without learning that.. therefore who am I to try to take that peace away from him by arguing about his beliefs with him. I'm not stupid I know the lies, manipulations, etc but people have to evolve with spirituality naturally. I can take gems from Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism or Christianity.. If it's beautiful, inspirational or helpful I may just apply it to my life but that is my freedom in not being committed to one religion or another. I believe God is the energy force in which all life is created and the the designer of all eco systems that were created so harmoniously, from nature, to the human body, to the Sun, Earth and Moon. If I call on God, I'm calling on the divine energy that lives in all things created by this force including the force that lives within myself. I know this was lengthy, I apologize but the "God" question has never been a simple answer for me and I know as much as I do know.. I still don't know anything. It's a life long journey. Maybe more than one life.. who knows lol. awakewhileusleep

i believe more and more people are leaning toward being spiritual over religious.. how long were you a non-believer and what made you start on your journey to enlightenment lexxrey ? whenever a situation applied, i've also found take aways from different teachings also. i was raised Christian, but when i was off to college i began studying Islam but after falling out with my parents over my new found religion i came back to Christianity.. but now, my mind is opening up to so much new information. you left a very thought provoking comment and i thank you for sharing

@lexxray beautifully stated and I echo those same sentiments. You can take something from every religion, they all share some basic tenets but one does have to come into their own regarding their understanding of religion & spirituality. I believe God is within me, the ancestors, and a higher power that brought forth all these creations from the beginning.

At the end of the bar erykah said but they fear us, "melanin minds," jus the same. U can't leave that out and u have to take heed to that all of us melanin minded people are God. To destroy Christianity for the black people all u have to do is look up the council of nicea. That was the start of Christianity. But to not destroy it and Overstand it we must understand every religion came out of a melanin mind meaning the best lie has some truth in it. You are the Christ with the serpent power. The Christ is not a figure nobody comin out the sky to save us from nuthin u must understand that. Your kudalinie energy being raised up from the base of your spine to the topic your skull is the journey of Christ. The bible is purely metaphysical but it's wrote by master of the English language so u must Overstand the code. The masters of religion don't take the words in the book literal. It's 12 disciples 12 astrology signs a baby stays in a woman's womb for 9 months it's 9 planets astrology is based upon the souls travel here. If I tell u one of the disciples was a fisherman then the Aquarius sign can be recognized by those who know the language. A two sided Gemini will explain the judas story. In the beginning adom or atom was created on the 6th day which is the atomic number for melanin. It's all thru the bible we can go on building together if y'all want. A woman did not come from man we all came out of a vagina a woman first had a man without us being existent called "immaculate conception." Eve was depicted controlling Adams actions bringing the apple to him giving him life, sin=skin. It's complex but it all is the journey we must take to enlightenment. Td jakes all them definitely know bout all this.

Hmmm...
I'll be the first to say that I am not the most well versed when it comes to things like the Bible. I personally do believe in God. And you can call me stupid or crazy for not knowing why, but I just do. I prefer to keep things simple and just pray and meditate. I read the bible too at times but I am not the person who is gonna spew scripture at someone. I don't necessarily believe that I should memorize things without taking it to heart and applying it first. I hardly even go to church. I guess one thing about having a spiritual belief is it grounds you and helps you through all the perils in life. I don't believe that religion is for "The Dumb People". Unfortunately, folks get trapped into things that don't make much sense just to say that they worshipped GOD. Like honestly, who says you have to read one book (like the bible) to get a full idea of GOD's intentions? But yeah, this is me rambling on a Sunday night. I believe in GOD because......I just do. Makes sense only in my head but hey, it works for me.

awakewhileusleep I flirt with the Islam religion all the time so I know the attraction you're talking about.. I would even go as far as to say if I chose a religion to commit to it would be Islam. I was a non-believer most of my life since my parents had a very strict Christian upbringing and they both kind of rebelled and never gave my sibling or I any spiritual guidance because they wanted us to find our own way. I've always been a deep person to the point where it's almost hard for me to understand certain concepts without a lot of context and I'm always asking a lot of questions. I know my mind is pretty unique and eccentric and deep down I knew if I could conjure the questions somewhere there were answers and enlightenment has been like a pond with infinite depth and I'm just always willing to go as deep as i can and I feel like the deeper i go the closer to God I get. At one point I knew God could not be explained or contained within the covers of a book. Enlightenment has been a journey of spiritual evolution and it has been the most appropriate path when wanting to know and be close to God which for me has been all about discovering and experiencing the limitless infinite abundance of spirituality and love by connecting with the divine creator. I'm not even sure if any of this makes sense it's just the best way I can explain my experience so forgive me for my lack of better words. I'm really happy you opened this dialogue.

lexxrey Got a question for you? What attracts you so much to the religion of Islam ? I've only dabbled in in it, and just wondering your take on it.
