i know someone who has just found their baby's father 16yrs later from mutual friends on facebook. she is torn between contacting him first or just going straight to the attorney general.. if you were in her shoes how would you handle this situation??

I would definitely contact him first. Going through the courts first won't get you the answers you were searching for and may lead to leaving the middle man out.

i thought that would be the best thing too, but she was afraid that he might be a flight risk again.. they meet at the attorney general tomorrow for the first time since conception, prayers for things to go in her favor are appreciated... i cant even imagine going through some of the stuff that women have to deal with regarding kids justpeachy

Man, you can't even imagine, so many stories on both sides due to selfishness & spite. Meanwhile these kids are left to suffer & carry on some sort of dysfunction into their adulthood life.

I'm trying to smooth over the bumps in the potential problems that my son may have. It's not easy when you have to make executive decisions that cause you to cut people off because you can foresee things that others can't for their own protection. A lot of times we don't really understand until we are in that same position or until we are adults ourselves.

im in the same process with my children, they are almost adults now.. but the previous relationship i had with their mother was one of the worst experiences i have ever had in my life, and for my kids to be in the middle of it is even more disheartening. they have come a long way with age, but there is irrefutable damage done to my oldest son... the damage he and i went through with his mom will probably be with us until we die justpeachy

I am so sorry to hear that, I definitely can relate but we can only hope that everyone comes into realization & understanding. It would be nice if we were all on the same page at the same time, but that's too much like right & it's what intimately shapes us in the end. Some of us have to look for stronger bonds with our children & others later on in life. So all is not lost better late than never in getting it right!
